A couple of days ago I had a chance to see what happens when you apply stress to a DPMS lower reciever. DPMS have a well documented problem with cast small parts, and they were recently swapping out lower recievers to combat this problem. If anyone has any info on the actual lowers themselves being faulty, please let me know. I went for a visit to HSLD whom had been sent a reciever with a problem. It is a DPMS marked with "Southern Gun Company". Apprantly the owner had sent the rifle in for some work to some ranges near Shropshire and they claimed this is how it arrived:
In the pictures it can be seen fairly clearly that this is a cast reciever, and where it snapped is an obvious pressure point. However, I have never seen an AR do this before. Updates once I have been in contact with Southern Gun/DPMS to get some more information |
